Inmates Undergo Skills Training

Senior Superintendent Arnulfo Obias, BJMP regional director announced that forty selected inmates in Pagadian City Jail are undergoing a 25-day skills training on Electrical Installation and Maintenance, which has started on Wednesday, July 13

.
The skills’ training was conducted by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), Obias said.
The training being which is held at the compound of the Pagadian City Jail is in line with 10-point economic agenda of President Rodrigo Duterte to strengthen human resource development through skills training by TESDA, he added.
The BJMP provides all the necessary materials and tools while TESDA handles the training and assessments to enable the trainees acquire National Certificate-II. This opportunity of skills training will provide the beneficiary-inmates easy access to employment after they complete their custodial process.
Chief Inspector Nathaniel Aljas, Pagadian City Jail warden, said there are 478 inmates, including 46 females, detained at the detention facility.
“Those who go through skills training are composed of the third batch of inmate-trainees of a joint program of the BJMP and TESDA.” Aljas concluded. ---with Bong Garcia
