The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office 9 chose Ipil as the venue for the first Regional Shared Service Facility (SSF) Summit in time as the capital town celebrates its 67th Araw ng Ipil last July 26.
Attended by SSF co-operators and several micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Basilan and Zamboanga City, the summit highlights DTIs achievements through the SSF Program in the peninsula from the past years up to date.
A total of 134 SSF projects have been established by DTI throughout the peninsula as of June this year and 27 of it are established in the province. The established SSFs have 7,887 beneficiaries with a total project cost of P73.157 million.
“More of the approved projects of SSF are on its way,” Blesila Lantayona, Assistant Secretary of DTI Regional Operations Group said.
Being the third province to host the regional summit, DTI encouraged several micro-small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) who attended the activity to take a peek in the provinces’ booming business sector giving them a glimpse of a possibility to invest in the province.
Noting that the province is a “conflict-ridden” area, Lantayona said that holding the summit in the capital town is beneficial to Sibugay because future investors have seen the significant growth in the business sectors.
During the summit DTI awarded Lacnapan Abaca Planters Multi-purpose Cooperative (LAPMCO) of Kabasalan this province as one of the top three project co-operators and best practices in the peninsula.
“We are for change and we want our entrepreneurs to succeed in their investments and with the continued support of the SSF program we hope to sustain that gain with our partners.” Lantayona concluded.
