The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office-9 identified 68,671 families in Sibugay as legitimate beneficiaries for 2016 of the agency’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
DSWD registered close to 365,000 poor families in Zamboanga Peninsula in its 2015 year-end “Listahan.”
The said “Listahan” is described by Florita Villar, DSWD Undersecretary as “an objective way of targeting who must be given government social protection and services, which is updated every four years.”
The list is used by the department to identify legitimate beneficiaries for 4Ps including social pension.
Of the 364,723 identified indigent families in the region, 165,485 live in Zamboanga del Sur, 119,493 reside in Zamboanga del Norte and 11,074 in Isabela City.
In 2015, the agency assessed a total of 704,872 households composing 3,124,216 individuals and identified 364,723 poor families with 1,034,836 individual members.
305,238 (83.69%) of the poor households reside in rural communities while 59,485 (16.31%) live in urban areas. Araceli Solamillo, DSWD’s Regional Director disclosed. (KAVM)
