Gunman kills drug ring leader in Ipil

ANOTHER one has bitten the dust as masked gunman killed an alleged drug ring leader in front of the victim’s horrified wife in Ipil, this province in what authorities suspect was to silence the victim.
Senior Superintendent Romulo Cleve Taboso, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, identified the slain alleged drug ring leader as Cecelio Izon alias Jun, 39 of Purok Orchid in the village of Ipil Heights, Ipil municipality.
Taboso said Izon was killed August 29 at around 10:30 a.m. at Purok Sampalok in the village of Tiayon, Ipil.
The police official said Izon was together with his wife, Emmie, aboard a jeep that has stopped along the highway while on the way home after visiting their property.
Taboso said an unidentified gunman wearing ski mask (bonnet) arrived and repeatedly shot the victim and sped off.
The victim was rushed but expired along the way to the hospital.
Taboso disclosed that Izon, who is in the drugs watch list of the police in Ipil town, has voluntarily surrendered on July 9.
Izon is identified as the leader in the link diagram in illegal drug trade the police have recovered.
